Charlie, this was refreshing! I like hearing about burnout and exhaustion from the firehose. I feel it too, and I don't even write about AI much at all (but of course, it's been a topic of interest for me for my whole life, especially the last 20 years of it).

I do not envy your position, but I appreciate what you do.

You hit the nail on the head!

As you know, I'm in the same boat as you and share very similar feelings. Both in terms of being a cautious optimist when it comes to AI and in terms of being so damn tired of the over-hyped dailly threads on X and elsewhere.

It's a bit of a schizophrenic position to be in: On the one hand, I'm struggling to keep up with all the AI-focused content (news, tips, releases, hot takes, noise, deep essays, etc.). On the other hand, I'm regularly contributing to this very ocean of content by writing two posts about gen AI per week.

But like you said, both as a writer and a reader, it's important to find your niche/area of interest to stay sane.

Thanks for the much needed reminder to manage the flow of news while still continuing to learn new skills and experimenting with AI, which isn't going to suddenly disappear tomorrow.
