I've been asking myself this all day. At some point, it's going to be undeniable that the realities of AI aren't quite living up to the promises. If/when that happens, we may see a switch from the narrative of "AGI is coming soon and will bring about utopia" to "many AI companies are overhyped, but not ours". It's possible we're seeing this play out already.

That Verge article is paywalled, but if it’s Sam’s statements from on-the-record SF dinner I was listening to the Hard Fork guys who were their and Sam and Brad gave exactly that context. Some silly AI startups are irrationally valued, we fine.

I'll be watching the B not in Nvidia's earnings but in their guidance. The semiconductor industry as a whole is fairly elevated.

The angle the hard fork guys took was the risk is layered in the private markets where individual investors are pooling resources to get in on early funding rounds where the valuations are silly versus public.
