I think we might see another Arab Spring moment, where everyone thinks something is going to happen due to technology, but something else happens instead.
I think there's a lot of potential for things to go haywire, but I'm 50/50 on whether it makes a huge impact (versus just making things marginally worse). There's so much AI anxiety already that it's possible we're inoculating ourselves against real damage from misinformation.
That said, 100% agree for another Arab Spring moment here, whether it's misinformation or something else entirely. Too much technology has been unleashed in too short a time for anyone to fully appreciate the ramifications.
